Also in el Golfo you have the best an amphitheatre which opens towards the ocean, which was formed as a result of the 1730 eruptions. The lagoon that occupies the bottom of the semicircle arose due to the flood of the crater. Its of green color is due the seaweed that lives right under the surface. The volcano is formed by porous tufa, which, by action of time time has created spectacular formation. The sea passes by means of the crater forming a beautiful black beach that contrasts with the green Lake, which is communicated with it by subterranean tubes. This lake has been declared a natural reserve, reason why you must not swim in it. Only a few metres from the volcano you will find the village of El Golfo where you find some excellent fish restaurants.
